This has to be one of my most favorite cities in Europe! I spent 3 days here in April 2000, and loved it! There are so many sights to see, I could barely fit in what I did see, and left out lots from my list. The medieval labyrinth of the Alfama district underneath an ancient castle, the Castelo de São Jorge. The very Portuguese monuments and buildings from the Belém. The pre-WWI trolleys still trundling along. The sheer exoticity of being in one of the farthest flung European capitals! I highly recommend a trip here - it's worth it!
