Snake Charmers

Morocco is known as al-Maghreb to the Arabs, but the Portuguese and then the rest of the Western world call it Morocco after the city of Marrakech. Lot of sights here, with a medina that's almost as wild as Fès's, but the Djemâa el-Fna takes the cake as crazy and exotic places of Morocco. Snake-charmers, monkeys led by leashes, and from what I've hear, even acrobats and fire-breathers at night!

The Djemâa el-Fna, a wild Moroccan market with date vendors, monkeys, snake charmers and plenty more exotic professions. Storks atop some ruins in the Menara Gardens - they winter here in North Africa and return to northern Europe for the summer. We ran into some guys who would let us takes pictures with their monkeys.
The catch? They ganged up on us afterwards for payment for the photos. The Mélia Tichka hotel where our group stayed - it was wonderful!
During our free day, I left the premises only for about an hour.
