Travel Links

I have been traveling all my life and love it greatly! I have links related to traveling here, or you can go straight to my photo gallery.

General Travel

  • CIA -- The World Factbook 2001: This site, run by the CIA has all sorts of info about everywhere on Earth.
  • US State Department - Services - Travel Warnings & Consular Information Sheets: Use this to see if the State Department recommends travel to somewhere you're going.
  • Perry-Castañeda Library Map collection: An extensive atlas of maps of any place which interests you.
  • CDC Home Travel Information Page: Tells what diseases you have to watch out for in places like exotic Madagascar or tropical Brazil.
  • Lonely Planet Online: They make some of the best travel guidebooks around, so their page is worth a look. Also check out the country listings!
  • National Geographic Expeditions @ nationalgeographic.com: the Photography Expeditions particularly interest me.
  • Car distinguishing signs worldwide: Cars in other countries, particularly in Europe, have stickers telling what country they are from. This site tells what those stickers mean.
  • Around the World in 80 Clicks: See what the weather looks like via skycams from cities around the world.
  • European Travel

  • TravelService - Query Page: This site helped me figure all my travel plans for travelling in Europe.
  • Council Travel - Student Travel Experts: They issue the ISIC card for college students (almost required if you want to go abroad) and can make travel arrangements for you as well.
  • Hostelling International - American Youth Hostels: Hostels are much, much cheaper than hotels, and you get to meet fellow travelers! If you are traveling on a budget, especially in Europe, get a membership with them.
  • Rick Steves' Europe Through the Back Door (ETBD): Proponent of seeing Europe through the "Back Door". Rick has been going to Europe every summer for the past 20 or so years, so he definitely knows what he's talking about. And don't worry, he won't make you spend tons and tons of money the way other travel services do.
  • Forsyth Homepage: I got my Eurail pass from them. They give you a great deal, also giving you a free Thomas Cook European Train Timetable with your purchase. However, they forgot to mail it with the pass and it ended up being a two week ordeal to get it to me.
