Himeji

Because it was not located in a major city during World War II, Himeji castle is still the original. While other castles in larger cities have been reconstructed in concrete, Himeji-jo is still entirely wooden. And of the original castles in Japan, of which only about a dozen remain, Himeji-jo is the largest and most famous, appearing in movies and in Japanese travel bulletins.
