The Italian Alps

I've been through here a number of times on various occasions. The first part of Italy I saw was in 1988 when my family took a trip to Vipitino, in South Tirol, just south of the Austrian border. No pizza that time, but I did have some on Capri. I stopped in the city of Aosta (license plate above) on my way from Chamonix, France, to San Marino. Lots of fine Roman ruins in the city, but some of the best were covered in scaffolding.

Aosta has a good number of Roman ruins, of course, since this is Italy. This archway is still intact! The doorway to Aosta's Cathedral. The Arco di Augusto
