Rick Steves spoke about this place as being the best walled city in Europe, and I agree! The walls are wonderful, and there is an actual town inside - albeit highly dependant on the tourist trade. The hostel is even inside, making it a short couple minute walk anywhere to the walls, anytime! I recommend Carcassonne to anyone going to France - it's magnificent!
