Pays Basque

Following my semester in Paris, I thought a trip down to the Basque country would be nice, and gave me many more memories. The violent Atlantic crashing on the rocks on the shore of Biarritz, trying a wide assortment of seafood - oysters, colin - and making sure to get gâteau basque with practically every meal. Most wonderful was watching the sun set over the Atlantic three days in a row.

The Grande Plage of Biarritz. The church Ste-Eugénie. The calm Port des Pêcheurs (port of the fishermen) and the mighty Atlantic beyond.
The Rocher de la Vierge jutting into the Atlantic. I succeeded in seeing the sun set 3 nights in a row over the Atlantic from Biarritz. The whole experience was incomparable! Fishing into the Bay of Biscay from the Plage des Basques.
A Basque fisherman's house in Biarritz. This was my 2nd sunset I saw while in Biarritz. This is Basque architecture - white buildings with shutters coloured red, green, or blue.
Another scene of the Grande Plage in Biarritz. My 3rd and final (so far) sunset from the Grande Plage in Biarritz. Biarritz
